U.S. energy companies cut 16 oil rigs in the week ending Aug. 23, bringing the total count to 754, General Electric Co.’s Baker Hughes energy services firm said in its closely followed report on Friday.

 

The gas rig count declined by three rigs to 162 rigs for the week, compared to 182 gas rigs a year earlier.
