SAMA governor says disclosure structure, investment methods main challenges for ESG

Saudi Central Bank’s (SAMA) Governor Fahad Al-Mubarak said that the most prominent challenges facing environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) are disclosure structuring and investment methodology, which makes it difficult for investors to decide.

Speaking at the Financial Sector Conference today, Sept. 27, Al-Mubarak said the methodology in this sector must be comprehensive, considering the full life cycle of the company.

He stressed that this is important with regard to environmental factors, since standards, indicators, systems, and methodologies must be adopted, from which the key principles of economics and sustainability could be understood.
