U.S. President Joe Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new wave of sanctions against Russia after Moscow invaded Ukraine.

 

Biden described Russian President Vladimir Putin as an aggressor with a "sinister vision of the world".

 

“Putin chose this war, and now he and his country will bear the consequences,” Biden told reporters.

 

The sanctions impede Russia's ability to do business in major currencies, along with measures against banks and state-owned enterprises.
