Private investment fund assets rise to SAR 524.6B in 2024

Saudi Arabia's private investment fund assets rose by 20% in 2024 to SAR 524.6 billion compared with a year earlier, according to a recent report by the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
According to the market regulator, an investment fund consists of a set of securities selected based on specific standards and criteria that align with the fund’s investment objectives.
The earnings of investment funds are typically generated from capital gains—profits earned from an increase or change in the value of invested securities—along with any dividends, if applicable.
A private fund is defined as an investment fund established in Saudi Arabia, with its units offered to investors in the Kingdom in accordance with the Investment Funds Regulations.
Real estate funds accounted for the largest share of private investment fund assets, making up 44.4% of the total (SAR 233 billion), followed by equity funds with 37.4% (SAR 196.1 billion).

The number of private investment funds reached 1,224 in 2024, compared to 994 by the end of 2023.
The number of subscribers to private investment funds recorded approx. 152,000 in 2024, up from 92,400 by the end of 2023.
