Japan’s SoftBank Group announced it has secured a $40 billion bridge loan to boost its investment in OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.

The loan, to mature in March 2027, was arranged through a banking consortium including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Mizuho, Sumitomo Mitsui, and MUFG, Reuters reported.

The group said the short-term loan is unsecured, reflecting financial institutions’ confidence in its ambitious artificial intelligence strategy.
