Gold settles lower; silver falls nearly 3%

Gold and silver bars

Gold and silver prices closed lower on Tuesday amid continued pressure from a stronger US dollar and a global bond selloff, while concerns over the inflationary impact of the Middle East conflict persisted.

Long-term US Treasury yields touched their highest levels since 2007 during today’s trading, alongside a broad selloff in sovereign debt markets worldwide.

Investor sentiment remained cautious amid uncertainty surrounding the outlook for the Middle East conflict. After the US canceled a planned military operation against Iran today, US President Donald Trump indicated that Washington may be forced to strike Tehran again.
