Saudi Arabia maintains 17th rank among largest holders of US debt in April.

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries fell in April 2026 to $140.1 billion, declining by about $9.5 billion from a month earlier, according to data from the US Department of Treasury.

The Kingdom maintained the 17th ranking among the largest holders of US debt in April.

The decline was driven by a drop in short-term Treasury holdings, which fell by about $9.2 billion, or 21% month-on-month, to $33.5 billion, accounting for 24% of the total.

Holdings of long-term bonds edged down to $106.7 billion, representing 76% of the total.

Japan remained the largest holder of US Treasuries at $1.209 trillion, followed by the United Kingdom with $937.5 billion.
