Cryptocurrencies deepen their losses, Bitcoin retreat by more than 3%

Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies deepened their losses on Tuesday, impacted by a sell-off in global markets fueled by concerns over tighter monetary policy in the US, which dampened investor appetite for risk.

Investors now expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates by 50 basis points (bps) by the end of 2026, according to Fidwatch, compared to expectations of a single 25-basis-point increase two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Michael Saylor's company, Strategy&, purchased $39.4 million worth of Bitcoin, again using its own stock to fund its cryptocurrency purchases for the third consecutive week.
