Cryptocurrencies rise; Bitcoin trades above $63,000

Bitcoin

Cryptocurrency prices rose on Thursday despite renewed geopolitical tensions and US President Donald Trump's announcement that the temporary ceasefire with Iran had ended.

Bitcoin has posted a strong performance so far this month, with the world's largest cryptocurrency by market value gaining about 6% after plunging nearly 20% in June, its worst monthly performance in four years.

Despite the recent rebound, Bitcoin remains more than 50% below its all-time high of over $126,000 reached in October last year.
