US weekly jobless claims drop more than expected


The number of Americans filing claims for unemployment benefits fell in the week ending Aug. 15, indicating that the US labor market remains resilient.

 

The number of applications dropped by 6,000, compared to the previous week's revised figure of 212,000, against expectations of recording 210,000, according to the Labor Department report released Thursday.
