Gold rises as markets await Jackson Hole Symposium

Gold bars
Gold prices rose on Monday, supported by a weaker dollar, as investors awaited U.S. inflation data and a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh later this week.
Spot gold earlier hit $4,654.20 an ounce, its highest since May 15, after gaining more than 5% last week.
Investors this week are focused on July core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index data, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, due on Wednesday, as well as Warsh’s remarks at the Jackson Hole Symposium, which takes place on Thursday and Friday.
