US economy grows 1.5% in Q2 2026
The US economy grew by 1.5% during the period from April through June this year, according to the second estimate released Wednesday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) at the US Department of Commerce, in line with the initial estimate.
The increase in consumer spending, which accounts for around 70% of US economic activity, along with exports and investment, contributed to GDP growth in the second quarter. This was partially offset by a decline in government spending.
The US Department of Commerce typically releases three estimates of changes in gross domestic product (GDP). The third and final estimate for the second quarter is scheduled to be released on September 30.
