The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) granted a carrier services license to National Water Co. (NWC) and a landing stations and international cable capacities services license to Technology Link Services (TLS), with combined expected investments of approximately SAR 555 million.

 

The licenses were handed over at LEAP 26, the international technology conference.

 

According to two separate statements issued by CST, the licenses will contribute to the deve lopment of the telecommunications sector, enhance the utilization of companies’ infrastructure, help create an enabling environment for leading technologies, and attract global technology industry leaders.

 

CST granted the carrier services license to NWC, with expected investments of approximately SAR 455 million ($121.3 million). The license will allow the company to provide services to its customers within the scope specified in the license.

 

The authority said the license will enable utility companies to make use of surplus infrastructure capacity, including fiber-optic networks, towers and ducts, by making it available to licensed entities holding individual licenses. It will also enhance the utilization of existing infrastructure and improve efficiency among licensed service providers.

 

CST also granted landing stations and international cable capacities services license to TLS, with expected investments of approximately SAR 100 million ($26.67 million). The license will allow the company to provide services to its customers within the scope specified in the license.
