BCare eyes Saudi market IPO within 2 yrs amid fierce competition

Ali Alali, CEO of BCare Insurance

Ali Alali, CEO of BCare Insurance, said competition in the insurance brokerage sector is extremely fierce, adding that long-term sustainability requires strong financial backing and high solvency, particularly in the retail segment.

Speaking to Argaam on the sidelines of LEAP 2026, Alali said the bulk of the company’s business is concentrated in motor insurance, reflecting the broader market dominance of motor and medical insurance lines.

He said BCare prioritizes digital services, having started its operations with motor insurance before adding other products, such as medical malpractice and travel insurance. The company also has new products under development that it plans to launch soon. It also offers a full suite of corporate insurance solutions.

Alali noted that digital comparison tools have empowered customers to easily evaluate insurance products and pricing, making customer experience the primary competitive differentiator for brokers. He added that the Insurance Authority's (IA) new regulatory strategy is actively supporting the local brokerage sector, driving a recent influx of new market projects and commercial requests.

The Saudi market is undergoing a major transformation following the launch of the IA’s strategy, particularly in insurance brokerage, he said, expecting intense competition to persist given the similarity of products offered by brokers and the heavy competitive focus on commission strcutures.

The top executive identified the key insurance aggregation platforms in the market as Insurance House Co. (IHC) and BCare. Besides, BCare competes as a traditional broker against companies such as Aon, Marsh, and IHC.

Tracing the Saudi-based company’s evolution, Alali explained that BCare began operations in 2015 as a standard broker, began developing its digital platform in 2017, and officially launched it in 2018. At the time, the market was not widely receptive to that digital model and formal regulatory frameworks were still emerging.

Today, BCare serves retail clients, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporate entities, a diversified model that has strengthened its market position.

The company has dedicated customer and user experience teams that monitor real-time market shifts and upgrades services on a regular basis, he said.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, according to the CEO, was a key catalyst to digital transformation across the local insurance sector, prompting companies without digital products to accelerate their online product development.

Alali also highlighted the importance of after-sales services, noting that BCare has a strong operations team that is equipped with AI-enabled solutions to enhance service quality and improve customer experience.

Regarding a potential IPO on the Saudi market, he said BCare is targeting a listing within the next two years and has begun the necessary internal preparations and regulatory prerequisites.
