US stock markets on public holiday today

US stock markets are closed today, Sept. 7, for a public holiday in observance of Labor Day, with trading set to resume tomorrow.

Wall Street’s main indexes closed lower on Friday, following the release of stronger-than-expected August US nonfarm payrolls data.

The robust employment report drove two-year Treasury yields to their highest levels since January 2025.

Market forecasts for a rate hike at the Federal Reserve’s September meeting rose to nearly 58%, from 49.4% a day earlier, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.
