Gold prices seen surpassing $5,000 in 2027

Participants at the annual meeting of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) expect gold prices to rise to $5,013 per ounce over the next 12 months.

This represents an increase of around 20% from the current level of nearly $4,170, according to forecasts announced today, Oct. 7, during the meeting held in Sorrento, Italy.

Gold prices have declined around 3% since the beginning of 2026 amid expectations that interest rates will remain higher for longer, as the war in Iran continues. Gold surged 64% in 2025, marking its largest annual gain since 1979, and hit a record high of $5,595 per ounce in January.

A survey of conference participants from around the world also showed expectations for silver prices to rise to $97 per ounce over the next 12 months, from around $61 currently.

Participants also expect platinum prices to rise to $1,914 per ounce over the next 12 months, from around $1,706 currently, while palladium prices are expected to rise to $1,415 from around $1,174.
