The Jubail-Dammam railway project is awaiting final approvals from the Saudi cabinet, Al Yaum newspaper reported citing the Ministry of Transport spokesman, Turki Al Toaimi.

 

Once this project is completed, the Jubail-Dammam railway will connect to the landbridge linking the ports on the east coast of Saudi Arabia with the Jeddah Port.

 

In 2013, Saudi Railway (SAR) awarded the115 km-Jubail-Dammam railway project to Saudi-Greek consortium that includes Greece-based Terna and Al Omair Trading & Contracting Co. The contract was valued at SAR 827 million.
