King Salman has ordered the creation of a new cabinet-level security apparatus, independent from the Interior Ministry, according to a series of royal decrees issued Thursday evening.

 

The new agency will deal with issues related to counter-terrorism, which were previously handled by the Interior Ministry.  

 

Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Howairini has been appointed to head the new security apparatus, the Kingdom's official state new agency reported.
