The Central Bank of UAE’s request for details on bank accounts of 19 Saudi Arabian citizens was only an information-gathering exercise, Reuters reported, citing central bank governor Mubarak Rashed Al Mansouri.

 

“(It was) just information-gathering, nothing more,” Al Mansouri was quoted as saying.

 

Following Saudi Arabia’s anti-corruption crackdown that led to the detention of several businessmen and officials, the UAE central bank had asked banks and financial entities in the emirates to the provide information.
