PCE inflation gauge rises in March

30/04/2026 Argaam

The Core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index in the United States—the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge—rose in March, according to data released today, April 30, by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

The increase reflects mounting inflationary pressures driven by higher energy prices amid the US conflict with Iran, with inflation remaining above the Fed’s 2% target.

The data also showed that US disposable personal income increased by $142.5 billion, while personal consumption expenditures rose by about $195.4 billion.

The gains were primarily supported by higher wages and increased income from farm proprietors, despite a decline in certain government support benefits.
