SoftBank Group Corp. posted total investment gains of JPY 7.28 trillion ($47.4 billion) for the fiscal year ended March 2026, driven by a higher valuation for OpenAI that helped its Vision Funds return to profitability.

The Japanese group said in financial results released today, May 13, that OpenAI alone accounted for JPY 6.73 trillion ($43.9 billion) of the total investment gains.

In the three months to the end of March 2026, Vision Fund recorded nearly $20 billion in gains, driven almost entirely by the valuation of the US AI company.

Vision Fund reported annual gains of around $46 billion, helping offset losses from other investments, including Coupang, DiDi Global and Klarna.
