SoftBank to spend more than $85B on French AI data centers

SoftBank Group will commit as much as €75 billion ($87 billion) to build five gigawatts of AI data center capacity across France, with this strategic move aimed at boosting high-performance computing capabilities in the Old Continent and supporting rapid digital transformation.

 

The first will cost €45 billion ($52 billion) to deliver 3.1GW in the northern Hauts-de-France region by 2031, according to CNBC.

 

This phase will focus its operations in the northern Hauts-de-France region, specifically in the cities of Dunkirk, Bosquel and Bouchain, within a program aimed at reaching a total capacity of 5 gigawatts.
