Japan's SoftBank Group reported quarterly earnings that exceeded market expectations, supported by gains in the value of its stakes in Intel and ByteDance.

This is despite a decline in net profit during the first quarter of its fiscal year 2027.

SoftBank posted investment gains of JPY 1.86 trillion ($11.79 billion) in the quarter, driven primarily by a JPY 1.33 trillion gain from its investment in Intel.

The Vision Fund also recorded JPY 460.1 billion in gains during the three months ended June, mainly due to the increased valuation of its investment in ByteDance, the owner of TikTok.
