Cryptocurrencies rose today, April 22, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of extending the ceasefire with Iran.

Bitcoin surged by 4.15% to $78,147 as of 11:10 am Makkah time, trimming some gains after earlier surpassing $78,400—its highest level since February 3.

Ethereum also rose by around 3.73% to $2,391.57, while Ripple gained 2.11% to $1.4553.

Paul Howard, senior director at market maker Wincent, said Bitcoin’s near-term direction remains highly dependent on developments in the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape, Bloomberg reported.
