Cryptocurrencies rose more than 1% in Wednesday’s trading, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and ahead of US inflation data.
Investors are also awaiting US inflation data due Friday, which could influence expectations for the Federal Reserve’s decision next week. Capital markets are pricing in about a 60% chance of a 25-basis-point rate hike.
Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, was trading above $79,000, but remains down about 9.5% year-to-date.
