Al-Falih says Saudi Arabia committed to meeting Chinese, Indian energy needs

Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih said Tuesday that his country is committed to meeting the energy needs of China, India, and other developing nations, while moving towards a mix of renewables and fossil energy sources.

He told an energy forum that converting to renewables will take decades to materialize, and, in the meantime, the world should invest in clean technology to decrease the ongoing environmental impact of fossil fuel emissions.

Saudi Arabia, the world’s top crude exporter, will diversity its oil-dependent economy to be able to continue competing in global markets, he added. The kingdom will also focus its efforts on high-quality education geared towards information, technology, and high-quality education.
