Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has cancelled the award process for the Sultanate’s third mobile license, Saudi Telecom Co. said in a bourse statement on Wednesday.

Saudi Telecom, the Kingdom’s largest telecom operator, submitted a bid for the license in May.

Other bidders for the license included United Arab Emirates-based Etisalat Group and Kuwait’s Zain Group.

Oman awarded its first mobile license to Omantel, while the second license was bagged by Oman Qatari Telecommunications Co. (Ooredoo Oman).

The country was expected to award the third license by the end of November, it was reported last month.
